Searching Tipton County Cases by Name
On the Indiana MyCase Name tab, you can search a person or a business. A personal lookup takes a last name plus at least one more piece: a first name, a middle name, or a date of birth. Enter only what you need to find the case. Businesses go through their own business-name path. Setting the Court filter to Tipton Circuit Court cuts out unrelated Indiana results.
- Open MyCase and select the Name tab.
- Choose the person or business path and enter the required fields.
- Use sounds-like only for spelling variations, then select Tipton Circuit Court.
- Narrow by status and filing date before opening the best match.
| Field | Type | Required | Use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Last Name | Text | Yes for person | Add first, middle, or birth date |
| Business Name | Text | Business path | Trailing wildcard may help |
| Sounds-like | Checkbox | No | Alternate spelling |
| Court | Dropdown | No | Select active 80C01 |
| Status/File Date | Filter | No | Reduces broad results |
Tipton County MyCase Search Paths
MyCase splits a Tipton County case search into Case, Name, and Attorney tabs. They are separate roads, not boxes to fill together. The Case tab wants a single case number, citation number, or cross-reference number. Parties and businesses belong on the Name tab. The Attorney tab takes an attorney number or attorney name. It will not work as a party-name shortcut. Text typed into the wrong tab can return nothing. Even a fully public case can look blank that way.
Choose one route first. Use a known case or citation number when possible. Names are broader and require care to confirm the court, role, and date.
The official MyCase search tips page explains wildcards, required field combinations, and number formatting. MyCase stops at 1,000 results, so the court, status, and date filters matter.
Searching Tipton County by Case Number
Today's uniform number starts with 80C01-YYMM-XX-####. That prefix marks Tipton County and Tipton Circuit Court. The next digits give the filing year and month. The letters show case type, and the final sequence separates one filing from the rest. MyCase sometimes forgives missing hyphens or dropped leading zeros. Copying the number exactly is still the safer move. A transferred case may carry a changed number later.
Enter one case number, citation number, or cross-reference number at a time. Combining them does not work. Current cases sit under 80C01. The codes 80H01 and 80I01 point to abolished city or town courts, so they are only historical clues. When an old number will not resolve, keep it handy. Keep the approximate year handy for the Clerk too.
The 80C01 Tipton Court Filter
Under Administrative Rule 8, 80C01 is the active Tipton Circuit Court code. It works as the key local filter because the current directory shows just one county trial court, with no separate city, town, or superior court still running. A name attached to another county code is not a Tipton County result.
- 80
- Tipton County’s number in the Indiana system.
- C01
- The active Tipton Circuit Court identifier.
- 80H01
- Abolished Tipton City Court identifier.
- 80I01
- Abolished Tipton or Sharpsville Town Court identifier.
Old Odyssey entries can linger after a court closes. Their presence never means that shuttered office still accepts a filing or holds a hearing.
What a Tipton County Case Search Returns
A public result can name the court, the case number, the type, the filed date, the status, role headings, settings, and the chronological events. Indiana labels that event register the Chronological Case Summary, or CCS. Each dated line marks something filed, set, ordered, served, continued, or disposed. The full document behind the event is not always attached.
| Case Number | The uniform 80C01-YYMM-XX-#### identifier |
|---|---|
| Case Type | A code such as CM, IF, PL, SC, or EV |
| Filed Date | When the court accepted the case |
| Status | Open, closed, or another management state |
| CCS Events | Dated filings, settings, orders, notices, and outcomes |
| Documents | Selected public files when online access is allowed |
Check the newest entries first when you want a court date. A continuance can quietly replace an older setting. And "converted event" only means old data was moved into Odyssey, not that a new filing happened.
When Tipton County Shows No Result
A blank MyCase screen proves nothing. The court may still hold an older paper file. Names and numbers get mistyped. Cases move between courts, and the wrong court filter can hide everything. Sealed, excluded, juvenile, protection-order, and granted-expungement material may be absent too. A public event can also show up without a scanned document.
Try the number again without guessing digits. Confirm 80C01 is selected, widen the filing dates, or use the allowed wildcard or sounds-like feature. A current version of Chrome, Firefox, or Edge is recommended. The CAPTCHA exists to stop bulk collection. Still nothing? Call Christy Crawford's Clerk's office at 765-675-2795, or visit 101 East Jefferson Street after confirming hours. Offer the case number or year, not unrelated private details.
Statewide vs Tipton County Case Search
There are not two rival portals here. MyCase runs statewide and includes Tipton Circuit Court. The county layer is the Clerk's official file, counter, and copy service. MyCase suits locating a matter and reading public CCS data. For checking omissions, the Clerk is the right stop. The Clerk is also right for an official or certified record.
| Indiana MyCase | Tipton County Clerk |

| Online public information | Phone and courthouse access |
| Public CCS entries and selected files | Record status and copy options |
| May omit older or restricted data | Official copies when allowed |
The county Document Center is a separate tool that searches county administrative documents, not causes by party or case number.
Tipton County Status Filters
MyCase gives you All, Open, and Closed. Open finds a pending Tipton County matter; Closed finds a disposed file. Choose All when status is unclear, though it may pile up names. Remember that status is just a case-management label. It cannot explain the judgment, the balance, or whether a later filing changed things.
Look at the CCS and any linked order. Pending can simply mean action remains. Disposed records a closing outcome, yet later financial or enforcement entries may still appear. MyCase itself warns that online balances can be incomplete. Confirm any money due with the Clerk. The Tipton County court records page draws a line. It separates a docket entry from the source document behind it.
Access and Restricted Tipton County Cases
Who may see a Tipton County case? Indiana's Rules on Access to Court Records decide. Some categories stay off limits. Juvenile, adoption, guardianship, mental-health, protection-order, and granted-expungement records all face restrictions, and protection orders sit in a separate official search. A missing document link proves nothing by itself. It does not mean the record is sealed. Rule 9 offers one way around an exclusion, but it is extraordinary. The applicant files a verified written request, shows a public interest, gives notice, allows a response, and receives a written order. That is not a routine shortcut. Parties holding an account and a court-issued access code can reach authorized records once identity checks clear. Everyone else should ask the Clerk which lawful route fits the case.
Confirming a Tipton County Search
Check the details first. A trustworthy Tipton County result shows the 80C01 prefix, the right case type, the same filed date, and matching party roles. Read the newest CCS entries. Then look for the current setting or order. A same-name hit is not proof of identity, and a short docket label cannot establish guilt, liability, or any other legal effect. The filed order and the court remain authoritative. Call Tipton Circuit Court at 765-675-2791 for a hearing date, a courtroom, a reporter, or a judge instruction. The Clerk's line, 765-675-2795, handles the official file, copies, certifications, and old paper cases. MyCase is a tool, not the record. One quick call keeps the lookup useful without confusing the two. First, note the exact CCS date and filing title. That detail lets the Clerk separate a docket printout from a signed order, judgment, or certified copy. It also spares you from ordering every paper. Odyssey reached Tipton in September 2008, so anything older may live in a paper file instead of an online image. Say so when you call. And when a document appears only as an event label, ask whether inspection or a plain copy exists before paying for certification.
